About our Willimantic Site
- Generations Family Health Center of Willimantic is located in
the Willimantic section of the Town of Windham, a semi-rural town
with a population of 22,770 (2005 Census) located 35 miles from
Hartford.
- The Willimantic site, home of the main office, is the original
Generations Family Health Center site, which opened in 1983 as a
free clinic on a part-time basis. The site was originally located
in a small Victorian house on the grounds of Windham Hospital with
a satellite site in the Windham Heights Housing Complex.
- With the infusion of state and federal funding in the
mid-1990’s, Generations Family Health Center expanded to a full
service, family practice based health center.
- In 1994, Generations Family Health Center moved into a newly
renovated 9,000 square foot space at 1315 Main Street, the site of
a former grocery store, where it is collocated with the ACCESS
Agency, Inc. to provide “one-stop shopping” for health and human
services.
- In January 1996, the site opened its Dental suite.
Comprehensive preventive and restorative dental care is provided
to all ages.
- The Willimantic site currently has 16 exam rooms and 5
equipped dental operatories.
- Our Medical Director is Morton Glasser, MD; and our Clinical Services
Director is Nancy Quimby, APRN;
- The site currently possesses the highest patient volume of the
four sites, providing 16,037 medical and 8,721 dental visits in
FY2007.
- The site has the highest minority user population of the three
sites with a 50% Hispanic, 41% White, 6% Black and 3% Other mix.
- A mobile dental program
called Across the Smiles became operational in April
2002. The van provides comprehensive preventive and restorative
dental care to primarily pediatric and senior populations.
