Dear Patient:

We are happy to announce that Generations Family Health Center’s Willimantic and Putnam Dental Departments are open for the following services:

In Willimantic:

  • Restorative care (including fillings)
  • Extractions
  • Emergency dental care

In Putnam:

  • Emergency dental care

Currently, no hygiene services are offered at either location

Our number one priority has and will always be the safety of our patients and families, our staff, and our community.

To keep everyone safe, we are following CDC and State of Connecticut guidelines by implementing the following protocols:

1) Prior to the patient’s appointment, a member of our dental team will call you to review the following:

  • Update the health history form
  • Ask COVID-19 screening questions that include
    • History of domestic or international travel
    • History of contact with persons diagnosed or suspected with COVID-19
    • Check to see if patient has had any of the COVID-19 symptoms within the last 14 days (fever, dry cough, fatigue, headaches, etc.)

2) On the day of your appointment: Patients must call us at (860)450-7471 in Willimantic or (860) 963-7917 in Putnam upon your arrival in the parking lot for your scheduled appointment.

3) Patients must wait in their vehicle until we notify you that staff are ready for you to enter the health center.

NOTE: We ask that patients come in by themselves. If this is not possible, one adult ONLY may escort patients under 14 (sorry, no siblings may accompany at this time).

4) The Patient (and adult escorting them) must wear a mask or facial covering; or, will not be admitted to the office.

NOTE: If the patient or escort does not have a mask or facial covering, we will provide one for you.

5) A dental team member will meet you at the door and ask several screening questions and take your temperature prior to them entering the building. Any temperature above 100.4 (Or if your temperature is between 99.0-100.4 after taking fever-reducing medication) will require rescheduling.

6) Once admitted to the office, you will, be given hand sanitizer to use and escorted to the exam room.

7) Before starting any procedure, you will be required to rinse with Peridex to reduce bacteria in your mouth. Children under the age of 18 or Pregnant/Nursing women will be given an alternative rinse to use.

8) Following the patient’s appointment, they will put their face mask back on and return to the car. We will then call the patient or accompanying adult with a treatment update and to schedule the next appointment.

To keep our offices as safe as possible for both the patients and our staff, we are also doing the following:

  • All Agency staff will wear face masks and the dental team will be wearing additional PPE (Personal Protective Equipment.)
  • To avoid the creation of aerosols, elective procedures (such as cleanings and preventive sealants) will be postponed for the time being. When it is deemed safe to offer these services again, we will notify patients and schedule an appointment for you.
  • Exam rooms and bathrooms will be cleaned with an appropriate disinfectant after each patient.
  • Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. This may mean fewer time options for scheduling your appointment.
  • All magazines, reading materials and other objects have been removed from the dental operatory and waiting rooms to prevent spread of the virus on surfaces that cannot be disinfected easily.

We appreciate your assistance and understanding in helping us implement these new measures. As always, SAFETY is our number one priority.
